Valentine's Day came and went. As you can see, my boyfriend Doug, seems a bit disgruntled. He is sad because he wants more airtime on this blog. My sincerest apologies - feel free to comment away on my negligence.
Despite the shortcomings of blog stardom, Doug harbored any malcontent and took me out to a fine Irish establishment, The Bitter End in "new" Chinatown. This is one of many Irish pubs on and around Clement St in the Richmond area. It definitely has an element of coziness to it, and the $3.00 happy hour specials of all draft beer left us feeling pretty happy. From there it was on to Burma Superstar (check it out on yelp too), a local favorite with recipes like "rainbow salad" where they mix dozens of ingredients right in front of you, to sesame beer and spicy chicken with basil. Although we waited 1.5 hours for a table, we really didn't mind since we were sipping pintside at The Bitter End, just up the street (if you leave your phone # they'll call you when your table is ready). It was very busy but the courteous wait staff did their best to accommodate all of their famished patrons, showing up 2 by 2 and sometimes by 3 or 4. Both great places, and overall a very special valentine indeed. So Doug, please find it in yourself to release your disgruntledness and accept this dedicated post as a peace offering!!
