Come fly with me, up and away, on my blue bobsled!
No no, it's just a figurative term. Why Blue Bobsled? Well, no one had a blog named that first on blogger.com. Years ago, I had a dream that involved me driving in a limo with my parents to the debut of the opening of my new bar, the Blue Bobsled! I have no idea how visionary it is, but the name always stuck and I think people will remember it.
That said, here's to future posts, and enjoying the life of a blogger.
Why a blog?
I've always been a web-aholic, before it was the web or the Internet. Back in the early 1990's I thought it was the most amazing thing to log into the SUNY Albany VAX and try to find who else was on the system, and who was connected at other networks. I'd post on any user group that I thought could use my comments. I gopher'd and finger'd my way around and probably struck up more random conversations around the US, and probably the world, just for the sake of remote and virtual conversations. One of my favorite memories was seeing if my other geeky friend Colleen was on her network at Georgetown, and then we did what was a 1991 version of Instant Messengering. Betcha didn't know you could do that back then!
So, a blog is the next evolutionary step after my web site postings on various URLs that had mostly to do with my rowing career. Maybe I'll post those for you some day.
Enjoy!
